Mr. W. Laird, Who Is Going Overseas On Health Trip, Farewelled By businessmen
On the eve of his departure overs-ps for a health trip, Mr W. Laird was the guest oi Wanganui businessmen yesterday at an informal morning tea. There were present Messrs K C. Lee and N. Lorentzen (Cuthbertson and Lee Ltd.). C. S. Jetts iMcGrucr s Ltd). Alan R. Harper (D.I.CJ, W. A. Chainey (Charney Bros), A. D. Roboie (VVanganui "Chronicle"), C. E. A. Maclean (Wanganui “Herald”), and E. R. Mara. Mr Lee, who presented Mr Laird with a cheque from friends and wellwishers, spoke eu logistically of his work in the field of publicity in Wanganui and expressed the hope that me sea trip anil rest would quickly bring back a restoral ion of health. He also hoped that Mr Lairds contacts with newspapers ana advertising interests overseas would enable him to enlarge his experience and on his return provide an even m.,re up-io-daie and modern advertising serv.ee. Following the presentai.ou ail present paid testimon;, to the assistance and co-operation received from Mr Lairh and wished him bon voyage and a quick return to health. In his reply Mr Laird, who was visibly moved by the testimonies given, staled that his stay in Wanganui had been a particularly pleasant one. He thanked all present for the good Wishes expressed.
