Mother’s Day is now observed in many parts of the world on the second Sunday in May, which this year falls on the May 8 (next Sunday). Do not let this particular day pass without remembering mother with a gift which will appropriately express the love and the devotion for the one person who never forgets or fails us. And why stop with one thoughtful gift? Mother would be pleased to receive more than one. “The Rusty Road” (12s 6d), “In Search of South Africa,” a most interesting travel book from the pen of H. V. Morton; “Over the Reefs,” by Robert Gibbings, who recently visited New Zealand. Other books include “The Egg and I,” (13s 6d), by Betty Macdonald; and there are many reprints of old favourites, such as Margery Sharp’s “Cluny Brown.” How about stationery? Perhaps a box of her favourite writing paper and envelopes would be appreciated as a gift for Mother’s Day. Gifts Of Furnishings. Mother likes comfort in the home, so perhaps you would like to give her a fireside chair or a lovely occasional table. They are in various designs, some of the tables being combined with bookshelves. Mother’s Day Gifts At The D.I.C. A charming custom, don’t you think, of dedicating one day in the year—always the second Sunday in May—to mothers? So remember to call at the D.I.C. and select your gift for your mother. There are hundreds of happy thoughts, conveniently displayed for easy selection in the various departments and lots of pretty and practical things to commemorate the occasion of Mother’s Day. If you think mother would like a peasant, apron, there are good quality ones at 6s 6d, or perhaps linen handkerchiefs which are 8s 6d a box, Exquisite white flower sprays (6s 3d) or a white lc.ce jabot (8s lid) to wear with a costume or frock, are also good suggestions. Then there is a full range of smart umbrellas, gloves, and hosiery from among the latter, being good quality fine lisle at 15s Bd, and a lovely variety of woollen and fabric gloves at 8s lid. If mother would like perfume, a box of good soap, or other toiletries, or aids to beauty, these will be found in great variety in the cosmetic and toiletries department, and while there, do look at the nylon hair brushes, especially those in an airtight transparent container.
