Good Armour and Merriful so far the best of the Auckland 'chasers. Thus even it the dual G.N. winner . Brookby Song is missing there will be plenty of talent to make a race of it. Boolamskee. one of the Dominion's best hurdlers, is an interesting entrant for the race over the Ellerslie hill. He was at Ellerslie last June but was unplaced in his three hurdle races, failing at his third start. Boolamskee was nominated for the hack crosscountry race at Avondale next Saturday, but did not accept at the 11.8 awarded him. I Visiting horses engaged in the Great I Northern Hurdles comprise 16 of the 59 entrants. They include Tremellc 'and Boolamskee; first and second respectively in the Grand National Hurdles last August. Night Fighter, a winner at Ellerslie last. Christmas, Roman Duke, Broiefield, Christopher Wren, Duality. Moutoa Lord, Pages Raid, Charivari Foxchase, Sphere, Minion, Fairhome, Dawn March and Omaio. i Corineus. who just failed to catch ‘South Riding in the Great Northern I Hurdles last year, is again engaged, 'and the stable has a second string in Whooray, formerly Waverley owned. I Brookby Song is also in the hurdle race and he will probably be a starter. ; Hunter’s Green and Master Ted are two of the most promising among the ' northern hurdlers and they may be included among the early favourites. For the big flat events at Ellerslie there is the usual large list of entries. The Cornwall Handicap, with its stake of £2OOO. has attracted 69 candidates. This time it will not be run in divisions, as has happened on more than one occasion, and the ballot box will be used to eliminate anything beyond 20 starters. Tins is the only race at the fixture in which special provision has been made for balloting out, so probably the big flat events on the cscond and third days, with 72 and 79 entries respectively, may have to be run in divisions.
