Socialists In India Not Pleased With The London Agreement

LONDON, May 2 (Ree. 6 p.m.) Although India as a whole has welcomed the agreement which the Commonwealth Conference reached last week, there has been criticism, particularly from loft wing Socialist leaders, says the “Times” Delhi correspondent. The general secretary of the moder•itcly powerful Socialist Party, Mr. ’ai Prakish Karnin. deplored the London agreement and said the Socialist Party would do its best to undo this "great national blunder.” Mr. Narain said India’s association with the Commonwealth would pre • ent her gaining self-confidence and .•'landing on her own feet. The correspondent said that Narain’s nd other criticisms of the Commonwealth agieemcnt are not likely to sway the great mass of Indian opinion or prevent the Constituent Assembly endorsing the London decision at its forthcoming session.
