DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB TURAKINA, April 30 (OC). A very interesting and rather unusual situation arose on Saturday, April 23, when the final of two shoots for H. Stewart’s trophy was fired. When the scores were tallied it was found that four rifllemen had tied for first place, W. Munro, A. Elgar, J. Morgan and J. Govcnlock each scoring 200. A shoot off will b ? held at a later date on a 600 yd. range. L. Gennells was in good form on Saturday, scoring 101 off the rifle. Following are Saturday’s results, with totals for the two shoots in parentheses. Ranges were 300, 500 and 600yds:—L. Gennills, 34, 34, 33 101 (192); A. Govcnlock, 32, 31, 32 5 —lOO (194); W. Caughley 27 31, 30 8—96 (191); J. Kelly 29, 29. 30, 7-95 (195); H. Goilc 26, 31, 30, 7—94 (192); A. Nitschk e 26, 30, 29, 9—94 (194); C. Lou nd 25, 25, 28, 14-92—192). OBITUARY. The death occurred in Wanganui recently, of Mary Sussanah Grice, at the age of 86. Mrs. Grice, who was horn at Twyford, Sussex, England, was the daughter of the late John and Rebecca Murrell. She married Edward George Grice, who predeceased her in August. 1940, and came to New Zealand in 1913, taking up farming in the Taihape district, later travelling extensively with her husband to America, England and Australia. Mrs. Grice has resided in Wanganui for the past 15 years, having farming interests in the Turakina Valley. She leaves on e son, Bertram G. Grice, Turakina Valley, two daughters, Mrs. A.
