Rare Heart Operation Performed In Auckland

AUCKLAND. Yesterday (PA).—Believed to be the first of its kind in New Zealand, a rare heart operation was successfully performed at Green Lane Hospital. Auckland, on Wednesday. The patient was a man aged 22 years and the operation Involved lhe removal of the outer bag enclosing the heart which normally expands with the heart’s movements. In this case the bag had calcified, containing the heart in a rigid box. With the heart, now expanding freely, the patient is making satisfactory progress.
