TO PLAY FOR 520 SCHOLARS

Goodman’s Generous Gesture

Arrangements have been completed by Miss M. E. Baker, Principal of the Wanganui Girls’ College for Isador Goodman to give an hour’s recital in the College Hall to an audience of 530 school children. “This involves Mr. Goodman in a severe handicap” said Miss Baker, “because he has undertaken this extra task on the same day on which he is to give his big concert in the Opera House, namely, Thursday the 28th. The generosity of the artist on this

occasion is delightfully expressed in! the message which I have received! from Mr. R. J. Kerridge. Isador I Goodman is willing to do what lies within his power to foster the love of 1 music in the rising generation, a| policy which has been consistently; pursued by the Girls’ College. We shall be delighted to have Isador | Goodman with us and shall regard, his hour as a treasured memory, I am' sure. He has been a Professor Of; Music, so will be able to provide those verbal interpretations of his pro-

i gramme which will enable his juven--1 i ile audience to enter more fully into . the beauties of his work. I am con- .! fident that the general public will ap- ' i preciate the very gracious conduct ■ of this great musician,” said Miss ■ Baker.
