BOULTON AND LIDDELL WILL CONTEST FINAL OF BOWLING TOURNEY

With 10 teams qualifying, postsection play took place yesterday in the Wanganui Bowling Centre’s annual Easter full r.nks tounament and will conclude today when G. N. Boulton (Wanganui) will meet another Wanganui team skipped by T. Lidded. Play will begin at !) a.in. on the Wanganui Club’s greens.

The four teams which took part in the semi-finals yesterday wore all from the Wanganui Bowling Club.

In the first round a single to Olsson (Waitara) on the 12th end in his match against Harris (Wanganui) made the score 13-9 in his favour. Harris scored a three and a single tc make the score 13-ail and a single v Harris on the 17th. and made them on even terms again 16-ali. Harris won the 18th. with a single. A brace to Raine (Wanganui East) on the 11th. head made the score 11-4 in his favour in his match against Steel (Wanganui). Steel then began to put on points. A three on the 16th made the score 13-12 in his favour. Raine scored a brace On the 17th. to lead 14-13 but Steel scored two on the final head to win by a small margin. In the second round it was generally expected that McKay (New Plymouth) would put up a big fight against Boulton (Wanganui) hut fortune went against him on the 14th when the score was 11 all. In the remainder of the match, McKay scored only two points to Boulton’s four.

The score was 15-4 in Steel’s favour on the 12th. head in his match against Tizard (St. John’s). In the next lour ends, Tizard secured two on each but was down 12-16, Steel finishing the game with a single.

Liddell and Glover (Gonville) had an interesting match. With 12 end: played, the score was 10-all. In the remainder of the game, Liddell scored six points to Glover's four. A single to Bond (Wanganui) in his match against Harris made the score 11-4 against him with six ends gone. From then on, Bond played ahead and was leading 16-12 with 12 ends finished. He was two down at the end oi the 16th., the score being 16-18. Bond secured relief on the 17th. At the change-over he was two up and he got his own two bowls in to win 20-18, the time bell preventing the 18th end from being played.

The two semi-finals were disappointing in that both were one-sided games. Boulton was leading 17-3 on the 14th end in his match against Bond. Bond notched a four on the next end but Boulton won 22-7. The 17th and 18th heads were not played. In the other semi-final, the result was much the same. Steel scored four times for six and Liddell scored on 12 ends for 19, the 17th and 18th ends not being played. The following are details of the scores:—
