AUCKLAND, Last Night (PA). Replacing Lofty Blomfield, who is suffering from an ear infection, Ray Gunkel (United States) was defeated by two falls to one by Pete Mangaoff (United States) in the Auckland Wrestling Association’s first carnival for the 1949 season. Mangaoff secured his first fall in the third round when he applied a figure-four body scissors,

and a body press in the fifth round. Gunkel evened the falls with a body press which followed a series of flying tackles and a drop-kick. Mangaoff took the final fall with a dump and body press :n the seventh round.
