Varied List Of Easter Attractions In Wanganui
A wide variety of sporting attractions will be provided for the public during the Easter holiday period in Wanganui. The majority of business promises will be closed from tonight until Tuesday morning, so that Wanganui residents wishing to leave town and travel far afield will be able to do so. For those who remain there will be provision for entertainment from day to day. Large entries have been received fop the Wanganui Bowling Centre’s Easter tournament, which begins on Good Friday and will be continued on succeeding days. Golfers from many centres will be taking part in the Castlecliff Golf Club’s Easter tournament, which begins on Good Friday and will conclude on Easter Monday. Tennis enthusiasts will be catered for at the St. John’s Club tournament, which also begins on Good Friday. The only Rugby attraction on Easter Saturday afternoon is a match between Wanganui and Old Boys and a team from Feilding. In addition, there will be the annual reunion festivities of the Wanganui Collegiate School Old Boys’ Association, which begin on Saturday and will be continued until Tuesday morning with the school v. old boys’ Rugby matches. For racegoers there will be the Easter meeting of the Feilding Jockey Club on Saturday and Monday. Given fine weather, many will go camping, and there will be the last of the season picnics. Holiday programmes will be screened at city and suburban theatres.
