Large Wanganui Party Will Go To WairoaOn Thursday For Easter Camp

An Easter camp in Wairoa which is being arranged by the Federated Catholic Maori Chios will be attended by a parly of 100 Maoris from the Wanganui district. They will leave on Tnursday ana a smiila r party oi Taranaki Maoris will also make the trip. More than 1000 Maoris from all parts ol the southern hall ot the North Islaqii are expected to attend. Several nay -ills have been spent in preparing the competitions to be held camp and the first rehearsal is to taxe place tomorrow. Transport arrangements lor the parties attending tne camp have been completed, so tnat about 60 Maoris from the Waitara district will board the express train uoni New Plymouth on Thursaay. The Wanganui party will also join this train ana a special train will take tms contingent as well as Otaki and Wellington Maoris from Palmerston North to Wairoa. A nephew of Sir James Carroll and leader of the Ngati Rahangunu tribe, Mr. Toki Carroil, is to sponsor the camp, which is to be held on the historic Takitimu marae, centre of the Ngati Kahungunu tribe.
