NEW ZEALAND COLLAPSE IN WOMEN’S TEST CRICKET
AUCKLAND, Last Night (P.A.)— The New Zealand team staged a batting collapse in the women's Test cricket match at Eden Park today and was all out for 61. At one stage New Zealand had lost seven wickets for 19, but avoided the follow on. England in their second innings had made 164 for the loss of seven wickets. On the first day of play England was dismissed for '204, and New Zealand replied with one wicket for It was a day of slow scoring, 220 runs being recorded by both teams. The batting of the New Zealand side was disappointing, the notable exception being J. Francis, who made merry with the attack. She drove strongly in making 19 in 12 minutes, including four fours and a three. A fine bowling performance for England was put up by D. McEvoy, who took five wickets for 23 runs. M. Johnson was equally as effective in taking four wickets for 18. M. MacLagan gave a sound cosplay in En g _ land’s second innings in which she was top scorer with 47.
