Worker On Deviation Knocked Over By Truck; Extensive In juries
Extensive injuries were received by Mr. JI. Teimana, of Onepuhi, when he was knocked down by a motor (ruck while working on the Gower Hill railway deviation early yesterday afternoon. He received a fractured left, thigh, a fracture of the right collar-bone, a possible fracture at the base of the skull and also a possible fracture of the right pelvis. Mr Teimana, who is a bulldozer driver, was taken to the Wanganui Hospital by ambulance and his condition last night was reported to be sat isfactory. The accident occurred shortly after 1 p.m Mr. Teimana was walking from the bank where excavations are being carried out on the Marton side of Gower’s Cutting to his bulldozer when he became mixed up in a heavy cloud of dust. He did not see the truck approaching and the vehicle passed over him, rolling him over several times. The injured man was attended by . Dr. R. A. Church (Marton) before being taken to hospital.
