Special Bursary In Science For Pupil Of Wanganui Girls’ College
Jean Andrews, a pupil in 1948, of Girls’ College, has received word that she has been awarded a Public Service special science bursary to enable her to study for the B.Sc. degree in Biology at Otago University. She w’.il later be attached to the Department of Agriculture as a technical trainee. The bursary was awarded on the results of a special examination. Another pupil, Barbara Johnston, was awarded a post-primary teachers’ Bursary, of which there are some 40 to 50 awarded in the Dominion. BURSARY IN FINE ARTS.
Miss Mavis James, a former pupil of the Wanganui Girls’ College, who, in 1947, while a pupil there, passed in three of the five subjects required for the preliminary to the Diploma of Fine Arts, and who has spent a year at the Canterbury College School of Art, has received word that she has been awarded a bursary in fine arts.
