Australia To Pay Whole Cost Of The Snowy River Scheme
Sydney, Feb. 17.—1 t is stated authoritatively that the Commonwealth is prepared to undertake the entire cost of the £185,090,000 Snowy River project and to sell electricity at a cost to New South Wales, Victoria and Capital territory. Under this method of handling the rheme New South Wales would get al! the headwater construction works for irrigation extensions free of charge. Technicians will be imported, some of them with experience on the Tennessee Valley Authority. Australian iP be sent overseas for experience. The Commonwealth is prepared Io nay for electrical equipment. The •ower generated is estimated to he 50 ■ er cent, above the present combined | output of Victoria and New South Wales.
