COMMUNISTS AND R.S.A.
Sir, —I read in today’s “Chronicle the decision of the Wanganui R.S.A. executive that "Communists should not be barred from membership—only those whose political activities aie disloyal or subversive, etc.” . I feel that the executive, in trying to be broadminded are failing to be realistic. Surely they must know that the whole essence of a Communist creed is to be disloyal and subversive. They are openly and avowedly enemies of the State, trying by every underhand means in their power to bring misery and suffering to the country of their birth or their adoption. For the R.S.A. to say that they will not debar a Communist unless he is disloyal or subversive is tantamount to saying that they will not debar a Communist unless he is a Communist. It is to be hoped that, at the quarterly meeting the executive’s decision will be reversed with no uncertain voice.—l am, etc., PRO PATRIA.
