Pleading guilty to a charge of assaulting his wife at Turakina on Saturday night, Edward Mangahuka Karatau, aged 34, labourer, was convicted and discharged and ordered to take out a prohibition order when he appeared before Messrs. D. Ingle and H. J. Higham, J.’sP., in the Marton Court yesterday morning. Sergeant W. J. Brown conducted the case for the Police Department, and explaining to the court the circumstances of the case, said that the accused had been drinking on Saturday and on going to his home had assaulted his wife.
