The recent criticism of the Wanganui Education Board of some of the ' serials broadcast over the New Zea- ! land stations which were considered ; unsuitable for children was the subject of a letter from the Minister in • Charge of Broadcasting (Mr Jones) ‘ at yesterday’s meeting of the board, i The Minister staled that the rules adopted by the auditioning staff of the New Zealand Broadcasting Service when listening to ah items submitted from overseas ensured that broadcast : programmes in New Zealand were I amongst the least offensive and most censored in the world. “There are som e piays or serials ,I which might, even alter having been ; passed by the auditioning officers. mak e some impression upon children," stated the letter. “In these cases every care is taken to ensure that these productions are presented lat night when children are supposed i to be in bed. | “I should be pleased if you will comi pile a list of programmes which you ; consider not suitable for broadcasting from stations of the New Zealand .
