SOCIAL AND PERSONAL. Mrs. David Sherriff is a Dunedin visitor to Wanganui. Misses Jean and Yvonne Scanlon, of Upokongaro. are visiting Taupo. Miss Elaine Newton, St. John’s Hill, has returned after a holiday spent in the Southern Alps. Mrs. Hawkes, who visited Wanganui for file tennis tournament, has returned to Wellington. Mrs. W. Perry, who has been staying with her mother, Mrs. H. R. Jones, College Street, has returned to Masterton. Mrs. H. G. Carver and family, College Street, are on a camping holiday at Waimarama Beach, Havelock North. The Rev. F. Keay, and Mrs Keay, Wanganui East, left during the week for a visit to Auckland. Miss Stella Dingwall. Wellington, is the guest of Mrs. E. M. Uttley, Alma Road. Miss Dorothy Collier, St. John’s Hill, has returned after a trip of several weeks to Fiji. Mr. and Mrs. L. Wilson and Miss B. Wilson, who have been visiting Wanganui, have returned to Christchurch. Miss Vai Burtenshaw, who has been in Wanganui for the tennis tournament, left on Wednesday to visit Palmerston North before returning to Blenheim. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Barton, of Wellington, will be the guests of Mrs. J. R Cade, Grey Street, for the NaylorAitken wedding. Mrs. J. Moye, of Sarjeant Street, Wanganui, accompanied by her granddaughter, Miss Pat McDonald, is visiting her daughters on the East Coast. Mrs. E. J. Callaghan (Hastings) and Mrs. lan Page (Gisborne). Mrs. Harold Jones, St. John’s Hill, accompanied by her daughter, Mrs. A. H. Breed, Wellington, has returned after a motoring trip to Auckland, travelling by way of New Plymouth and making the return via the Chateau and River Road. Mrs. Breed will spend the week-end in Wanganui before returning home. Word has been received by relatives that Mr. and Mrs. Percy Evans and Miss Jean Evans, of Nelson Street are returning to New Zealand from England, and will be passengers on the Tamaroa leaving Southampton on January 27. It is close on two years since they left New Zealand for a visit to relatives in England. Gift Parties. Miss Marjorie Aitken, Godwin Crescent, has. been entertained at pre-wedding parties, hostesses being Mrs. H. Dean, Springvale Road, who gave a gift evening, and Mesdames Carline, D. G. Strachan, and P. Swan, who were joint hostesses at a pantry gift party on Wednesday evening at Mrs_ Carline's home, Aramoho.
