Tour Of N.Z. By Australian Cyclists Patterson And Reynolds
WELLINGTON, Last Night (P.A.) —The New Zealand Amateur Cycling Association received advice today that the two Australian amateur cyclists, Sid Patterson and Keith Reynolds, both from Victoria, will arrive a< Auckland by air on January 13. Patterson was an Australian representative at the Olympic Games last year, and gained sixth place in the 1000 metres time trial. After the Olympic Games he toured the Continent and took part in the world championship meeting at Amsterdam. Patterson is acknowledged to be among the six best amateur cyclists in the world. He holds several Australian championships, and is one of the best riders produced in Australia in the last decade. He is 23 years of age, 6ft. 2in. in height, and scales 14st. Reynolds is Australian one mile champion and in 1947 was the one mile and five mile junior champion of the Commonwealth. The following is the Australians' itinerary for their New Zealand tour: January 15 and January 18, at Auckland; January 22, Napier; January 26, Nelson; January 29, Christchurch; February 1, Timaru; February 3, Dunedin; February 5, Invercargill; February 9, Christchurch; February 12, Wanganui; February 15, Feilding; February 16, Palmerston North; February 19, Hamilton; February 22, Auckland. No track is available at Wellington. Mr. A. N Gooder, of Auckland, and member of the New Zealand Cycling Council, will accompany the Australian riders throughout their tour as manager.
