Lord Nuffield Coming To N.Z.

Viscount Nuffield is among a number o£ distinguished passengers bound lor New Zealand in the 26,500-ton finer Dominion Monarch, which left Southampton on December 17. The liner, which is making her first voyage after 15 months under refit, is travelling by way of South Africa and Australia, and is due at Wellington on January 24. Viscount Nuffield is coming to New Zealand on a business visit in connection with the export drive of the Morris organisation. He will rejoin the Dominion Monarch in Australia for the return voyage. Viscountess Nuffield will leave the liner in South Africa and rejoin if there on the journey home.

Also on board Is the Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Brigadier W. G. Gentry, 0.8. E., D.S.O. and Bar, who is returning after attending the 1948 course of the Imperial Defence College, LondonMr. W. Sullivan, M.P. for Bay of Plenty, is returning from the Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference. Professor Sir Geoffrey Taylor, F.R.S., accompanied by Lady Taylor, Is one of six Fellows of the Royal Society coming from Britain to attend the Pacific Science Congress in New Zealand. Sir Geoffrey is Yarrow Research Professor of tile Royal Society, and is eminent in the field of experimental meteorology and aeronautics.

A former Minister of Commerce and Minister of Finance in the Parliament ot Northern Ireland, the Rt. Hon. Sir John Milne-Barbour, is also coming to New Zealand. Sir John is a linen thread manufacturer, a leading Ulster Freemason, and a prominent figure in public life in Nori hern Ireland.

Sir Herbert Seotl, who is accompanied by Lady Scott, is a member ot the committee of the Economic Adsory Council on Nutrition for the Colonial Empire, and a member of the Colonial Office Advisory Committee on education in the colonics. Mr. G. R. Ritchie, chairman of directors of th e Union Steam Ship Company, is returning from a visit to Britain.

Squadron Leader B. R. Furkert, accountant officer at Royal New Zealand Air Force Headquarters, London, is returning to New Zealand.
