Buster Keaton To Be Given Character Role
Buster Keaton, famous “frozen faced” comedian of silent films, returns to Hollywood with a major role in M.G.M.’s “Good Old Summertime,” in which he will share honours with Judy Garland and Van Johnson. Keaton first hit the Hollywood big time in 1917. H e will be remembered for such film hits as “The Navigator,” “The General,” “Battling Butler,” and “The Cameraman,” which he considers among his best. During past years Keaton has been ‘the man behind the gag’ in Hollywood laugh films. An expert cn laughs he has consulted with numerous writers on matters of comedy situations. “Good Old Summertime,” finds him in front of the cameras in the role of Hickey, well-meaning but blundering nephew of a music shop owner in Chicago in 1900. The film is directed by Robert Z. Leonard, produced by Joe Pasternak.
