WASHINGTON, bee '.-President Truman will recommend to Congress that the United States contribute up to 16,000,000 dollars for the relief of refugees from the fighting in Palestine. Reports place the number of those refugees at between 400,000 and 500,900, 90 per cent, of whom are Arabs, The refugees are said to be living under conditions of famine in neighbouring countries. President Truman’s decision follows the United Nations General Assembly resolution calling for assistance to refugees.
