St. David’s Church Social Function

The Ladies’ Guild ana Bible Class of St. David’s Presbyterian Church held a combined social evening this week, to farewell the Rev Mclntyre, who has retired and leaves shortly to live in New Plyouth, and also to entertain Miss Christine Hughes, whose marriage is to take place next month.

Mr. R. H. Tizard, session clerk, presented the Rev Mclntyre with a cheque. Members of a little club gave items and presented the minister with small gifts. All those at the gathering had brought along pantry gifts for Miss Hughes, who has been connected with the Sunday School and Bible Class for a number of years and was also a Sunday School teacher. Items given were recitations by Margaret Hughes, pianoforte solos, Nelson Tizard, and dances, Ailsa Tizard.
