Overseas Contacts Made By The Durie Hill Red Cross

The children of the Durie Hill Red Cross have recently made some interesting overseas contacts. A case of food sent through the school-to-school project, found its way to West Hartlepool, Durham. This brought letters of thanks and resulted in the formation of pen friendships. A friend in to whom for some years the Dune Hill children have sent parcels of clothing for distribution, recently sent them souvenirs in the form of tiny exquisite Greek figures in silk, as well as postcards and specimens of paper money. So generously were these supplied that when distribution was made at the school, all pupils were given some small memento. During the past few months the children have raised £l2 from the sale of used stamps, which, with much appreciation they receive from business firms and from the sale of newspapers. This money was at once passed on, divided betwen Dr. Barnardo’s Homes, Blind Institute, Leper Fund, Crippled Children, and League for the Hard of Hearing.
