10-Weeks Premature Baby May Grow Into A Normal Child

LONDON, Dec. 7 (Recd. Bpm).—A ten weeks prematurely born baby, weighing only 20 ounces and measuring seven inches from head to toes, will, it is believed, grow into a normal, healthy child, if all goes well in the next fortnight. The baby, swathed in cotton wool, is in an oxygen tent in a Southampton maternity home. A sister at the hospital said- “Medical authorities consider it almost impossible for a baby born more than two months prematurely to live. Theoretically the baby should not be alive, but this is her fourth day of existence.”
