Success Of Wanganui Marching Teams In Wairarapa Champs

MASTERTON. Last Night (PA).— One of the most spectacular and successful girls’ marching competitions held in the North Island took place in Masterton on Saturday afternoon, when the Wairarapa open girls’ marching championships were held. Nearly 300 girls participated, including teams from Palmerston North, Wanganui, Marton, Ohakune and Wairarapa. A colourful parade through Masterton streets, headed by the Wellington Watersiders’ Band, the Highland Pipe Band and the Masterton Band, was witnessed by large crowds. This afternoon the carnival was continued, when the highlight was the trooping of the colour by Wanganui marching girls, and slow marching championship. Results:— Open Marching Championship.
