Castlecliff Senior Golf Title Won By C. S. Bristol

Competitions for major honours at the Castfecliff Golf Club will conclude with the end of the winter season j shortly- , , | The 36-hole final of the senior club championship was played at the weekend between J. Wilson and C. S. Bristol. Bristol is one of the younger group of golfers and he played excellent golf to win 7 and 5. Wilson led 1 up after the first 18 holes, but after lunch Bristol settled down to tirst-ciass golf, going out in 35, one under par, and coming home in 36, also one under par. His 71 for the < last 18 holes was a tine effort and but i for the inevitable relaxation when the match finished and he took three putts ■ on the 16th and 181 h, he had a 69 within his grasp. In the semi-finals Wilson beat Leo Whetton, 4 and 3, and Bristol beat J. F. Rowe, 2 and 1. In the intermediate championship semi-finals, H. Brodie beat D. Corby 2 and 1, and K. Scouilar beat A. , Cheesman 4 and 3. Scouilar will meet Brodie in the final on Saturday. The junior semi-finals resulted: F. Higgins beat I. Corby, 3 and 2, and W. Sweney beat J. Tolley, 4 and 2. Sweney and Higgins will contest the final on Saturday also. The Power Cup was won by J. F. Rowe, who beat Leo Wbetton 2 and 1. In the semi-finals Whetton beat A. Cheesman, 1 up, and Rowe beat L. F. Fredrickson, 2 and 1. An unusual incident occurred on the 17th hole on Saturday when D. Corby’s second wood shot landed in the cup on the full with the pin in and stayed in. Il was a well played high ball, and gave Corby the only eagle to be recorded in the club's history at this 380-yard hole. Closing of the winter season will be observed on Saturday next, when the trophies won during the year will he presented. There will be a mixed Canadian foursome, players arranging I heir own partners, and a stableford for men. Players who are not able to arrange partners or opponents will be paired at the clubhouse and play will he ein at. 1.30 D.m.
