N.Z. Matron To Study Cerebral Palsy Cases And Modern Treatment

AUCKLAND, Last Night (P.A.)— Following a suggestion by Dr. Earl Carlson, world authority on cerebral palsy who visited the Dominion earlier this year, the matron of the Wilson Home for Crippled Children, Miss T. L. Faulconbridge, has been selected to visit institutions in the United States, Great, Britain, and Australia next year to study modern methods in the treatment of spastic and other crippled children. This was announced at a meeting of the Auckland Hospital Board when Miss Faulconbridge was granted leave on full pav from March 1 to November 30, 1949.

The board offered its congratulations. A letter from Auckland Crippled Children Society said its executive committee had agreed to make a sufficient sum available for Miss Faulconbridge’s fares and living costs abroad. It would also be willing to provide an additional fund for the purchase of any new equipment Miss Faulconbridge would see overseas.
