Minister To Make Full Inquiry Into Gagging Of Press
WELLINGTON, Monday (PA).—“I don’t want any interference with the Press and I am making the fullest inquiries into the whole of the circumstances to find out all the relevant facts and whas has been done that should not be done." said the acting Prime Minister, Mr, Nash, today, commenting on the statement of the president of the New Zealand Journalists' association. Mr. J. C. McKinnon, regarding allegations of official attempts to conceal facts from the Press representatives covering the air disaster at Mt. Ruapehu. "I will get a full report of the position,” added Mr. Nash.
The Minister said action would be taken immediately to appoint a commission of inquiry into the cause of the disaster. The personnel of the commission would be announced as soon as possible.
