Women’s Division

Okoia Branch.— The September meeting of the Okoia oranch was held in the hall and presided over by Mrs. Gardner. After routine business was discussed a most interesting account of the annual W.D.F.F. Conference held at Dunedin was given by Mrs. Anderson, of Wangaehu. Mrs. Bartrum (Wangaehu) was also a guest. After tea was served, tins of food for Britain were divided up to be mad'e into parcels. The following ladies offered to make up and dispatch these parcels: Mrs. F. Pratt, Mrs. R. Christie, and Mrs. L. McLeod. All listened with interest to an account Mrs. Blandford had written up about the early history up to the present time, of the land she owns in the Matarawa Valley. It is hoped that this will encourage other members to bring to meetings similar accounts of the respective properties they own, so that in time the proposed booklet on the history of Okoia lands can be compiled as suggested. The forthcoming 21st birthday partv to be held on the third Tuesday in October was discussed, and it was decided to leave all ararrangements in the hands of_ the foundation members. This committee met later at the home of Mrs. F. Pratt, when an attractive programme was linalised. Other branches have been notified and everyone will be welcome. There will be a display of handwork bv members and a special produce stall. The tea hostesses are Mrs. C. Richardson. Mrs. C. O’Leary, and Mrs. R. Christie.
