Sydney Dust Has Reached Out 600 Miles In Tasman

SYDNEY, Oct. 12 (Recd. 8 pm). —Dust from outback which blanketed Sydney yesterday, has already travelled 600 miles out into the Tasman, according to a report from the pilot of an airliner which arrived here today from Fiji. He saw the dust as a thick yellow bank. It has also reached Lord Howe Island, 500 miles from Sydney, where visibility has been reduced to about a mile. The flying boat service to the island has been cancelled. At Bowen, Queensland, a Hythe flying boat due at Sydney from London, has been delayed for the second day in succession.
