Record Attendance At Annual Meeting Of Trotting Club

The annual meetins: of the Wanganui* Trotting Club was held last night, Dr. G. J. Adams presiding over a record attendance, more than 70 being present. Dr. Adams expressed gratification at the attendance and said it was indicative of the interesin trotting in Wanganui ana augured well for the new season. He said the club was on the credit side and the membership stood at 500. Dr. Adams said every effort should b p made to obtain a membership of 1000. The Wanganui club dates for the coming season were October 9 and 16. The meeting held last October was very successfu', said Dr. Adams, and good support had been assured for next month’s meeting. He added that endeavours were being made to obtain more dates for the North Island, and it was essential that Wanganui should have two meetings a vear. An extra meeting would make Wanganui more trotting minded, he added. He acknowledged the generous cooperation given by the- Wanganui Jockey Club. A suggestion that, the executive make some inducement for farmers’ sons to bring their horses forward was made bv Mr. A. Richards. On the motion of Mr. S. Paterson a recommendation is to go to the incoming committee to sue what assistance can be given to Mr. C. Hackett in maintaining the track at Liverpool Park, Wanganui Eds*. Mr. Paterson said Ihe cub was under a debt of gratitude to Mr. Hackett for the imnrovements made to the track. ELECTION OF OFFICERS The election of officers resulted:— Patron, Mr. T. Mitchell (re-elected): president. Dr. G. J. Adams (re-elect-ed): vice-presidents. Messrs P. Carmichael, A. Mu ler and R. W Brown: •honorary treasurer. Mr. A. G. Mills: |Quinn. I. Manley and W. A. S. Russell were elected to fill four vacancies.
