Raetihi National Party Ball
The Druids’ Hall, Raetihi, was the scene of a very successful function when the Raetihi branch of the National Party held its annual ball. This year the ball was organised by the newly-formed junior branch. The committee, under the leadership o'f the chairman, Mr. Ross Brown and the secretary, Miss Joan Lynch, spared nothing to make this ball one of the best functions yet held. The ball was an attractive scene, with bush ferns, bunting, coloured flowers and lights, v.Zile the supper room was massed with spring flowers, which Miss Manson arranged so artistically, was very highly commented on. A very tasty savoury supper, of which the hightlight was stuffed wild pork, was served "buffet," was much appreciated by the large number who attended. The Starlight Serenaders played delightful music which added much to the success of the evening. Extas were contributed bv Mr. and Mrs. Welsford and Mrs. F. Wise. Several noveltv dances were included on the programme. The winners of the Monte Carlos were Miss L. Scarrow and Mr. John Fagg, Mr. G. Wham and Miss E. Crowlev. Lucky Partner Gay Gordons, Mrs. Mahar ' and Mr. Huddleston. Lucky Spot Waltz Miss J. Anderson and Mr. B. Beaton. Messrs. V. Stuckey. N. M’tchinson, R. Brown and T. Blanchard carried out the duties of M.C.’s. Several carloads of visitors attended from adjacent branches. The Junior Committee desires to thank all the donors and helpers who so generously gave their support, to make the ball the success it was.
