Technical Old Boys Rugby Football Club is sponsoring- an appeal for contributions for the Jimmie Ward, V.C., Memorial Fund for the Technical College. The purpose is to establish a. memorial scholarship at the college in memory of Flight-Sergeant Jimmie Ward. V.C., over Germany during the war. He played for the club’s junior team, and the club holds the shield which bears his name. It is awarded every year to the player who shows the best club spirit. The club is to play Star (New Plymouth), the champion Taranaki dub team, at Wanganui next Saturday and the club’s fourth-grade team is to play a Manawatu team in a curtain-raiser. All the funds collected at the gate, and from tickets, which will be on sale today, will go to establishing the scholarship.
