Mr. J. L. McArley, stationmaster, Mauriceville, who has been appointed stationmaster, Patea, will take up his new duties in about a fortnight's time. Messrs. A. Pepper and A. Alexan-der.'vice-presidents of the Aramoho Boating Club, who died during the year and Mr. T. Atchison ,a former member of the Wanganui Rowing Association, were referred to at the anual meeting of the Aramoho Boating Cluo on Monday night. As a mark of respect the meeting observed a brief silence. Messrs. J. Schneider and E. Johnson were elected life members of the Aramoho Boating .Club at the annual meeting on Monday night. Mr. Schneider was elected in recognition of his win in the New Zealand chain-1 pionship single sculls last season. Mr. i Johnson was the club captain and stroke of the Aramoho senior eightoar crew last season. Mr. R. Grant, of Tomoana, Hastings, has been appointed manager of the Patea Freezing Company in. succession to Mr. J. E. Taylor, who left this morning to take up his new duties at the head oilice of Messrs. W. and R Fletcher (N.Z.) Ltd., Wellington. Dr. M. M. Burns, senior lecturer and head of the department of soils and chemistry at Canterbury Agricultural College, Lincoln, has been appointed director of the newly established New Zealand Fertiliser Manufacturers’ Research Association. The ", association is one of the trade research : associations fostered by and partly financed by the Department of Scien- ' tifle and Industrial Research.
