WAVERLEY IS STILL LEADING IN WANGANUI CHARITY CUP RUGBY

Still leading the Wanganui Rugby Union’s Charity Cup contest is Waverley, with a clear margin of two points over Technical Old Boys, who on Saturday displaced Marist from second position. These are the positions of the teams after Saturday's matches in which T. 0.8 beat Marist (9-6). Kaierau beat Old Boys (6-3), and Waverley beat Pirates (16-0):

Lack of fitness among the players and their disinclination to tackle, was apparent in the two matches played on Spriggens Park on Saturday. Kaierau won against Wanganui and Old Boys in the early fixture, the maroons doing most of the attacking. A second spell rally saw Technical Old Boys win the three o’clock game against Marist. Playing at Waverley, the home fifteen turned on a fine brand of football to defeat Pirates.

Rugby interest was obviously centred with the tourists in the South there being only a handful of spectators at Spriggens Park.
