GENERAL NEWS The Te Kawau Ladies Hockev Club entered a team in the Manawatu 11-a-side competition on Saturday last, the team being selected from players not engaged in the representative matches played that day. In the first round a win was recorded over Textile A 2-0, but the team was defeated in the second round by Stratford by a like margin. In view ot her approaching marriage Miss Pam Butler was tendered a gift evening in the supper-room of the Town Hall on Saturday night, the function being snonsorer by Mrs. R. .A. Harris and Misses Mildred Currie and June Young. Dancing and items contributed by Miss Sydney Harris. Messrs. B. Henderson and G. Currie, and the Butler family, assisted in making the evening a most jolly and on lovable one. On behalf of the many friends present Mr. R. A. Harris asked the piiest of honour to accent the many gifts, expressing congratulations and <’oocl wishes.
