Neon Lighting Would Not Adversely Affect Local Power Quota
“It would be a tragedy if we could not use up all the units allocated to us.” said the Wanganui-Kangitikei Electric Power Board engineer (Mr. H. Webb), at the board’s monthly meeting yesterday, when he advocated the re-admission of neon lighting into Wanganui-
Mr. Webb was replying io a question as to how the supoly position would be affected bv the re-introduc-tion of neon lighting shop window displays.
“Neon signs are so few in number here that they would make little difference to the load,” said Mr. Webb. He understood that neon lighting could operate from the last week in August, and in his opinion after-clos-ing-hours displays carried “a good safe load.”
It was stated that, only two neon signs were in working order in Wan-
ganui, and that it would take at least two years before the other installations were repaired.
“In any case, the amount of cm rent they use is negligible,” said Mr. Webb.
