Wanganui Ladies’ Golf Club Has Successful Aid For Britain Day
In spite of the strong wind conditions were good for the Wanganui Ladies’ Golf Club’s open day at Belmont yesterday in aid of the club’s fund to send parcels to Britain. There was a large attendance of members of neighbouring clubs and some good scores were returned. In the morning a medal round was played. The best card in the senior division was a 93-18-75, handed in by Mrs. Signal. Mrs. Young’s score was 91-12-79. In the junior division Mrs. Renshaw and Mrs. Goldsbury returr, ed net 76’s. Mrs. Renshaw’s card was 101-25-76 and that of Mrs. Goldsbury 99-23-76. Mrs. Renshaw won on the count back. The best scores in the men’s section were: Moore Hunter 88-15-73 A. Gaskin 95-18-77: D. L. Blyth 105-26-79. In the afternoon a mixed or ladies’ bogey foursomes was played and the best cards were: Miss J. Duncan and W. Haggie 1 up, Mrs. Morrison and Miss S. Duncan 1 down, Mrs. Haggie and A. Gaskin 2 down, Mrs. Mclntyre and E. W. Glenn 2 down.
