TECHNICAL COLLEGE BEATEN For the first time this year in club matches hockey, Technical College were beaten when, last Saturday, they met and lost to Castlecliff by 2 goals to 4. Castlecliff on the day were the better team. A very good game took place between Rangers and Tech. Old Boys, and Rangers won by six goals to four. Hinemoa overshadowed Federal by six goals to one. although in the second spell Federal made several attempts to belter their score. Scores were: Castlecliff 4, Technical College 2. Wanganui Rangers 6, Tech. 0.8. 4. Hinemoa 6, Federal 1. Competition points now are: Hinemoa 6, Wanganui Rangers 4. Castlecliff 3, Technical College 2, Tech. Old Boys 1, Federal 0. CASTLECLIFF S WIN. The enterprising Castlecliff forwards last Saturday made full use of Technical College’s mistakes to gain a two-goal lead by half-time. Technical College rallied, equalled the score, but Castlecliff again outclassed them and won by four goals to two. R. Anthony (Castlecliff > played a great game to score all the four goals for his team, and for Technical College A. Hall secured both goals. Result: Castlecliff 4, Technical College 2. Messrs W. L. Mclntyre and D. F. Glenny were the umpires. A GREAT GAME It was a great game between Wanganui Rangers and Technical Old Boys that gave the former team a win of six goals to four. The ball was constantly in play, and, at times, there were some brilliant moves. Scorers were:—Wanganui Rangers: I. Gurney (3), N. Mclntyre (2), and R. Mclntyre (1). Technical Old Boys: R. Crutchley (2) and N. Capp (2). Score: Wanganui Rangers 6, Technical Old Boys 4.,. The umpires were Messrs 'J. D. Tizard and C. C. Grant. HINEMOA IN GOOD FORM. Hinemoa were in good form last Saturday when, J>y half-time, they had scored six goals against the Federal team. Hinemoa’s forwards swung the ball about freely, beating the Federal defence and entering the circle frequently. A feature of the Hinemoa’s play was the understanding between their players, thus giving a good exhibition of combination. Federal, on the other hand, were disunited and failed to make use of good use of good scoring opportunities. Their outstanding player, however, was A. Borich, who did a tremendous amount of work and beat Hinemoa’s defence frequently. Scorers were:— Federal: B. Hughes (3), W. Spicer (2) and Gordon Hughes 11). Federal: H. J. Dyson (1).
