Bromwich Favourite For Singles At The Wimbledon Tourney

(Special N.Z.P.A. Correspondent) Recd. 5.30 p.m. London, June 26 Although his ankle is still strapped and troublesome, Bromwich is now the favourite for the singles title at Wimbledon today. He had little difficulty in beating the Dutchman, Vanswol, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 The Hungarian, Asboth, had a surprise victory over Sturgess, 2-6, 9-7, 7-5, 2-6, 6- Sturgess is the third seeded player to be beaten. The American Bob Falkenburg, secured a comfortable win with powerful serving and superb volleying over the Australian, Frank Sedgeman, who was making his first singles appearance on the centre court, by 6-1, 6-2, 6-4. Other winners of the men’s singles in the fourth round were Patty, who beat Meredith, 6-3. 6-3. 8-6, and Mottram, who beat Washer, 10-8, 6-1, 7-
