Hunterville Young Farmers’ Club Monthly Meeting

(0.C.) Hunterville, May 24. Ten members of the Hunterville Young Farmers’ Club have signified their intention of taking part in the trip to the North Canterbury district and at the monthly meeting recently, Mr. G. Toulman was elected leader.

It was proposed at the meeting that the club should enter two debating teams junior and senior. There was some discussion on the land settlement scheme, as to whether members should fill in the forms. It was decided to hold the matter over till the next meeting.

An interesting report was given by the chairman and secretary, on the leadership and educational week held at Massey College early in the month. There was a long discussion on the dance to be held and all present were very enthusiastic and felt assured of a very successful evening. Mr. F. England gave a talk on dogs and dog trials. For the past few months the club has been sending parcels of fat to the Rev. Potter in the East End of London. So far 2801bs of fat have been sent, 230 pounds from Pouklore, and 50 pounds from Drysdale. Settlers who have not already been contacted, and who have fat they wish to give, are asked to communicate with the chairman Mr. W. H. England. The following is a letter received from the Rev. Potter in appreciation of the parcels sent: "The three packages about 401bs of fat arrived yesterday, and I write to send you a big thank you once again. We shall again melt It down and put it into jars and tins as we did last time. Over 30 families benefited by your last gift, and we have kept some for our two large families here of 25 and 30. I must send you some of our literatiure. Once again a very big thank you, may the good God be with you all.
