SANDY'S CORNER
TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE Dear “Sandy”: In yesterday's "Corner" you made reference to the "three point pot." I was quite elated until I discovered my mistake. I read it: “Three PINT pot!" Yours, "Thirsty." » DUCK DINNERS AND WHAT? There were duck dinners in Waverley on Saturday night, and there was many a toast to the Rugby team "from over the border" for winning its way to the top of the Wanganui Rugby ladder by beating Technical Old Boys on Saturday. We presume that something “flowed" with the ducks at the dinner, something of amber colouring, but if the Waverley side is good enough to beat Pirates next Saturday, and so round off the first round of the championship, that which will flow, with more than ducks, will be of clear and sparkling appeal. Champagne! How many years is it since Waverley flowed with champagne? Almost as many have pased since Waverley last beat Pirates, but that will not detract from the valiant effort that will be made next Saturday. Wo can almost hear the Pirates calling “Yo, ho and a bottle ot rum,’ and something about dead men and a chest. Pirates will be at full strength and a good match is forecast “over the border!"
