Taihape Cattle Fair
Messrs. Abraham and Williams Ltd. report as follows on the Taihape cattle fair: “A total yarding of some 1200 head of station cattle came forward. In some cases lines showed the signs of extreme drought conditions which have prevailed this autumn. However, taking this into consideration a most attractive yarding of well bred, well grown steers and females were offered to a large audience of the public. North Auckland, Bay of Plenty, Waikato, Taranaki, and Manawatu were all represented on the buyers’ bench. The sale commenced on the bullocks, and right from the outset competition was keen, a pen of well bred 34 and 44year store conditioned P.A. steers offered on account of Mr. F. W. Anderson, Hihitahi, opened the sale at £l3 10s. The younger cattle if anything excited keener competition and bidding was most animated throughout the male section. In the female section also, great interest was taken, and here again values were most satisfactory.
“Altogether, we report a highly successful sale, with prices throughout showing a sharp rise on recent rates. Our portion of the yarding was 600 head. Some of our main sales were:—
