Oxford Honour For Student At Victoria University College
(P.A.) Wellington. May 6. An Oxford honour has been won by a Victoria College scientist, Dr. C. M. Cwilong, of the Physics Department, who has been awarded a gold medal and prize for the Johnson Memorial prize essay. The Johnson prize was founded in 1862 in memory of Manuel John Johnson M.A., Magdalen Hull. It consists of a medal in addition to dividends on money invested, and is awarded every four years for the best essay on an astronomical or meteorological subject approved by the trustees. Not less than two years notice being given, each essay must be on the writer’s original and recent work.
Dr. Cwilong, who specialises in low temperatures, wrote his essay on the behaviour of water in its various phases at low temperatures, and its application to meteorology.
