Waikato Hunt Club Will Race At Te Rapa
The Waikato Hunt Club's meetings at Cambridge in the past have generally attracted a large crowd, especially as the club races on Labour Day, when there is an absence of competition save for the Auckland Trotting Club’s fixture. Last October the totalisator turnover was £70,000, giving a fair indication of the crowd which taxed the accommodation at Cambridge. Future meetings of the club will be held at Te Rapa, which will be the venue of the Waikato Racing Club's threeday meeeting, commencing on Saturday of this week. A deputation representing the Waikato Hunt Club waited on the committee of the Waikato Racing Club and asked that the Hunt Club's meetings be held on the Waikato Club’s course at Te Rapa in future. The request was granted, and terms were amicably arranged. It was agreed that the work would be carried out by the Hunt Club’s officials. The request was the outcome of a recent well-attended meeting in Cambridge, at which it was agreed that the facilities at the Cambridge course were inadequate.
