Party For Brides-to-Be. The Voluntary Aids of the Wanganui Sub-Centre of the Red Cross Society on Tuesday night held a very jolly ’pantry’ evening for two of their trainees who are being married this week. The guests or honour were Miss Eileen Carmody, and Miss Naomi Domney (who served overseas as a V.A. in Italy and Japan) and they received many useful and varied contributions for their future homes. Mrs. G. Palmer and Miss Shirley Keown entertained with vocal solos, and some very bright and amusing competitions and games made the occasion a very happy gathering. Mrs. Currin, sub-centre commandant, presented floral sprays to the brides-to-be, and to the artists. Women’s Section R.S.A. The Women’s section of the R.S.A. met again on Tuesday evening for their monthly packing of parcels of food for Britain. They made up and dispatched 18 parcels of varied and useful foodstuffs to individual addresses of people in the United Kingdom. They have “adopted” six exservicemen of the British Legion, who receive monthly parcels, and the others were sent to old folks, and to sick and blind people they have been glad to help.
