Women’s Institutes
Aramoho.— The monthly meeting of the Aramoho Women's Institute was held last Tuesday in the Methodist Hall. Mrs. Gould, presided, and several new members were welcomed. Miss Gibson sang two songs which were much appreciated, the accompanist being Mr,’. R. Tizard. Remits for the annual conference were discussed, and some suggestions for next year’s programme caused much amusement. A collection was taken up for the children’s nursery, and members brought gifts for the C.0.R.5.0. appeal, and the result was very gratifying. At the conclusion of the meeting a dainty afternoon lea was served, and the singing of the New Zealand National Anthem brought a very enjoyable afternoon to a close. The winners of the competitions were:—Smocking: Miss Hughes 1, Mrs. Gillum 2; soap, Miss Notman 1 and 2; best bloom, Miss Hughes 1, Mrs. Pierce 2. The competitions next month are: One jar bottled fruit, three plain scones, bowl of chrysanthemums, jam jar of mixed flowers, jam jar of berries and foliage, and collection of vegetables.
