Australian Timber Party Arrives At Auckland

(P.A.3 Auckland, April 9. A party of representatives of the Australian Timber Industry and Sawmillings and Forestry Servioe arrived at Whenuapai from Sydney to attend the conference on timber resources which opens in Rotorua on Monday. The conference, which has been convened by the New Zealand Sawmillers’ Federation will last six days. “Briefly the object of the conference is to see how much timber you can get from Australia, and how much we can get from you,” said Mr. P. B. Watson, manager of the Queensland Timber Stabilisation Board, who arrived with the party. Another member of the party was Mr. A. Hedley, fore Ker for the Australian Paper Manufacturers. He stated that very successful tests had been maded in Australia of New Zealand pines for kreft manufacture.
